Some Would Say I Have Lived

Some would say i have lived
I have waded barefoot through caribbean rivers
And Slinked through city back allies
ducked secretively into second story windows to avoid witness
Laid down beneath the stars and stood up behind and below the bleachers
I have played a clown for thousands and pulled laughter from tears
I have spotted the Pleiades and commemorated the passing of Haleys
I have created beautiful melodies no one will hear
And written words no one could perceive
I have lived in the moment
   I have dared
I have lived a life of reflection and considered the good.
Some would say i have lived
But these are all just moments
Pockets of time no more connected to each other
Than they are to you the reader.
In sum they do not illustrate a life well lived
They are only mirages of times gone by
That in a moment will be lost for all eternity
But do not mourn for me
   You experineced this too.
The fleeting, the slipping, the elusive
The chasing, the approaching, the sliding...
   The futility of purpose.
   But that is too far.
Some would say i have lived
