Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon
Wonderous and vast
Splashed in reds and golds
Folded and cramped
Cracked and wrinkled
Souls are tossed in to the gorge
On thermals rising and falling
Cast    as far as muscle and bone and psyche can send
You have made it a life journey
To find the deepest ravine
To deposit lost causes and a Jester's dream
Have you come in vain?
This is not the deepest, widest, longest, highest
Anything.
All those are constructs of perception.
But the clays and sediments are real enough
The river that burned a course through the rock for eons
Is real enough and sadly domesticated
Your destination is real enough
Believe in lfe its figures
It is its own postulate.
